Fort Dodge man allegedly robbed at gunpoint by 12 and 13 year olds

FORT DODGE – A Fort Dodge man walking in a neighborhood there was stopped and robbed by 12 and 13 year old children, police said today.

On Sunday September 4th, 2016 at approx. 2:05 A.M., Officers with the Fort Dodge Police Department responded to the area of 5th Ave N & N 22nd St. for an armed robbery that had just occurred.

Officers spoke to the victim, Christopher Monley, who stated while walking home he was approached by two Hispanic juvenile males at 4th Ave N. & N 20th St The males demanded he give them his phone. When he refused one of the males produced a pistol and pointed it at him and again demanded the phone. He gave them his phone and they rode away on bicycles. Officers initially unable to locate the juveniles.

While patrolling in the area Officer Keeland observed two juvenile males fitting the description, on bicycles near & 3rd Ave N. & N 22nd St. Officer Keeland notified other officers and the juveniles were stopped and questioned. Officers discovered a highly realistic airsoft pistol concealed in the waistband of one of the male juvenile suspects. Property belonging to the victim in this case was found in the possession of the other juvenile. Both juveniles were taken into custody without incident.

The juveniles, aged 12 years old and 13 years old where charged with Robbery 1st Degree, a Class B Felony. They were both transported to juvenile detention.

At this time, the Fort Dodge Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident.
