MASON CITY – The Mason City school district has abruptly scheduled a closed session meeting for Monday night.
An email announcing the meeting was sent at 10:30 AM Saturday morning. The Board of Education will meet in a Special Session at 8:00 PM on Monday, May 9, 2016, in the Board Room of the Administration Building, 1515 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, Iowa.
Just 22 hours earlier, NIT declared that the Mason City school district is in chaos.
“A power struggle is now underway in the Mason City school district, and the battle has made for chaos at the top levels of the public entity,” NIT told the public Friday afternoon.
This closed-door meeting could be a reaction to that story and an attempt to deal with the rapidly-evolving face-off between an employee who is seeking a massive windfall payoff worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and the school board.
NIT will report more when new development arise.
