WABASSO, Minn. – The NIACC women’s basketball team has its first recruit for the 2016-17 season.
Morgan Frank, a 5-foot-11 guard/forward from of Wabasso, Minn., signed a national letter of intent Friday to play next season for the Lady Trojans, who have qualified for the NJCAA Division II national tournament two of the last three years.
“She’s probably the most athletically gifted player I’ve ever had,” Wabasso coach Neil Dolan was quoted as saying in the New Ulm Journal in March. “Her athleticism, her size – those make her a real talent. But that, coupled with her work ethic, she’s a kid who wanted to move her game outside and not just be a one-dimensional player.
“She worked and worked and worked on her outside shooting and that’s really attributed to her athleticism and her work ethic.”
Frank, who was the Tomahawk Conference player of the year, averaged 27 points and 13 rebounds during her senior season and was the New Ulm Journal player of the year and the KNUJ girls basketball player of the year.
Frank scored 1,756 career points and accumulated 1,125 career rebounds.
“Morgan is a major piece to what we hope is another championship team,” NIACC coach Todd Ciochetto said. “She is the perfect fit on and off the court.”
