NIT – A new poll says Americans plan on spending a lot more this Christmas.

Gallup’s latest update of Americans’ 2015 Christmas spending plans finds consumers poised to spend more on gifts this holiday than in any November since 2007. The $830 they expect to spend this year is up sharply from $720 last year.

Gallup says 30% of U.S. adults expect to spend $1,000 or more on gifts, slightly higher than the 25% in the top-spender category a year ago. About one in five will spend between $500 and $999, 14% will spend between $250 and $499, and 19% will spend less than $250. Just 8% say they don’t celebrate Christmas or won’t be spending anything, while 7% are unsure how much they will spend.

As expected, persons living higher-earning households intend to spend even more, nearly $1,300 per person.

What about you.  How much will you spend this holiday season?  Will you spend online or in the stores in person?  Where’s your favorite place to shop?

gift cards–every year! Don’t know what to buy and can’t do a lot of shopping–they can buy what they need or want!

There’s many ways to help those less fortunate this time of year. Toys for tots, Salvation army, the Food bank, homeless shelters, and tomorrow nite in Central park people can donate scarves, gloves and mittens.

@Anonymous-I had forgotten. The food bank is another excellent one to give to. We always have supported that. We never have a problem helping those who really need it.

Being the private sector economy has greatly improved from last year I was able to payback the 100 bucks I borrowed for presents last Christmas. Think I’ll splurge this year – can you say 105 ?

We always give to Toys for Tots and the Salvation Army during this time of year. Other than that probably just the grandkids and our sons and daughter.

$200 or so, toys for tots.
