MASON CITY – A Lake Mills man accused of stealing from a Mason City business got out of the county before he was caught and brought back to jail.

The long arm of the law reached out and was able to apprehend Andrew John Aukes of Lake Mills on the evening of March 25. He was spotted allegedly stealing from Mills Fleet Farm, 3200 4th Street SW, at about 6:10 PM Wednesday, but had already left the store by the time police arrived. However, a Worth County deputy located him and brought him to the Cerro Gordo jail, where he was booked on a charge of theft in the third degree.

Dukes is still being held at this time on $1,000 cash bond as he awaits an April 3 hearing.
