MASON CITY – A Mason City man is facing serious charges after police determined he damaged a vehicle by throwing an object at it, then later fleeing officers who tried to arrest him.

Police said that 20-year-old Jacob Matthew Mills threw an object at a vehicle, causing over $1,000 in damage. The incident took place on August 8 at about 6:31 AM at the 100 block of 13th Street NE. Police filed a felony criminal mischief charge on August 14, and an arrest warrant was issued for Mills.

That same day, Mason City police officers located Mills at Georgia Avenue and 2nd Street NE, and attempted to make the arrest, but Mills tried to run. A number of officers responded, including Cerro Gordo deputies, and Mills was caught and taken to jail and charged with interference with official acts to go along with the felony criminal mischief charge.

Mills is being held on $5,300 bond as he awaits an August 25 hearing on his felony charge and an October 23, 2014 trial on the interference charge.
