One man dead after high speed chase in West Des Moines

WEST DES MOINES – A tragic accident between a drunk driver and a man fleeing police on a motorcycle claimed one life Wednesday in West Des Moines.

According to a report, 28-year-old Trent T. Bennett of Des Moines was fleeing police on his 1998 Kawasaki motorcycle Wednesday at about 11:00 PM. As he sped westbound in the 500 block of Railroad Avenue, Bennett struck a Jeep driven by 30-yeer-old Thomas J. Holland of West Des Moines as Holland attempted to turn north into an alley.

Bennett was taken to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines and pronounced dead. Holland was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

  1. HMMMMMMMMM eluding driver hits auto driven by drunk driver, drunk is arrested for OWI and prolly will be charged for manslaughter. No one wins in this deal. What a sad ending to both guys just out prolly having a little too much fun.
