MASON CITY – A Mason City woman was arrested recently for filing false reports to police and then promptly pleaded guilty to the charge.

Police said that 45-year-old Michelle Lee Selk was taken into custody on June 29, 2014, shortly before 6:00 PM, for falsely claiming an emergency, a simple misdemeanor charge. Selk is alleged to have made a 911 call to check on the welfare of an acquaintance knowing that this person was fine. Officers had been dispatched to conduct a welfare check at 108 Madison Avenue at about 4:50 PM. Officers talked to the subject and everything was fine. Officers then told Selk not to step foot on the property again or she would be charged with trespass and then arrested her for making the 911 call. It was said that she had previously made other 911 calls, and had become a distraction to police.

Selk was assessed $147.75 in fines and court fees.

      1. She’s a casualty of the broken mental health system in North Iowa. IN and out of institutions, and clinics. She was probably drugged out of her mind and court ordered treatment by one of the dirty 4: Lassise, Armstrong, Jackson, or Larsen who had a nice little racket going on during the 80’s and forced some pretty hefty drugs on people…messed up a lot of people real bad. I used to date a girl who’s brother freaked out on meth, and ended up a lifelong basket case on Prolixen and Haldol

      2. Mary Beth, why don’t you go back and sit in the Courthouse with all those other clerical ladies, shuffling papers, being ineffectual, and continuing the Cerro Gordo County Impotent Justice Machine. No question mark…purely rhetorical.
