MASON CITY – A Mason City man is in jail, waiting to see a judge after being arrested Friday morning for an assault.

Police arrested Rodney Alvin Bakkum, age 44, at 3:00 AM Friday at 1510 North Federal Avenue. He was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a charge of felony domestic assault with strangulation. He must see a judge before he can be released. Bakkum had been wanted on an arrest warrant since May 1 when Mason City police filed the felony assault charge.

Bakkum pled guilty to harassment last year, for which he was given probation. He was found guilty twice since that plea deal of violating that probation.
