MASON CITY – A Mason City man has been charged with felony theft.
Derek Dean Nibarger, age 25, was arrested Friday and charged with second degree theft, a class D felony.
According to police, on April 9, a subject reported he lost his wallet in Mason City. A few days later, a subject was identified that allegedly had possession of the wallet and contents. Further investigation discovered that Mr. Nibarger had apparently used the money from the wallet to purchase several items. The items purchased with stolen wallet contents is believed to be around $1700.
Nibarger, convicted sex offender, is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $5,000 cash or surety bond.
