Accused child killer Casey Frederiksen requests trial delay

WEBSTER CITY – A Charles City man accused of murdering a 5-year-old girl in 2005 is requesting a delay for his upcoming trial.

Waterloo attorney Aaron Keith Hawbaker filed a motion for continuance this week in Hamilton County District Court to delay a trial for Casey Frederiksen, age 34, on a charge of first degree murder and first degree sexual abuse.

Frederiksen was to stand trial on May 6 in Webster City, Iowa on the charges. He is accused of sexually abusing and murdering 5-year-old Evelyn Miller in Floyd in 2005. He had been left alone with the girl on the night of July 1, 2005 while her mother was at work. She died of sharp stab wounds to the neck. Her body was found July 7, 2005.

Frederiksen is being held in the Bremer County Jail in Waverly at this time as he awaits trial. He was arrested on child porn charges in 2006 after a neighbor turned over to police a computer hard drive Frederiksen had asked her to hide.  The computer contained hundred of child porn images.  He is serving 14 years in prison on the child porn charges and ten years on drug charges.
