home-invasionMASON CITY – A Mason City man reported that two men broke into his North End home this past weekend, pistol whipped him, and pepper-sprayed him and his girlfriend.

The man who described the dramatic scene will remain nameless in this story, but the incident was reported to have occurred at the 200 block of 10th Street NW. Mason City police confirmed that the man did make a report about a home invasion at 2:43 AM on the morning of March 16. He called police from a different location. Police said that officers did have medics come to the location where the call was made to offer medical assistance.

The man described a scene where two men broke into his house on the evening on March 15 and “pistol whipped me and throw my girlfriend around and pepper sprayed us both.

“It was two white dudes from what my girlfreind says,” the man continued, saying one was wearing a “red hoodie”. “I was too busy trying to fight them off then I got knocked out for a second from a pistol shot to the face then fought them off some more.

“The emts checked me out and said i didnt need [stitches].”

The man said he has no idea who the men are nor what they wanted. He also claims that the intruders stole his cell phone so he could not call 911 immediately.

The other piece to the story is that there have been quite a few claims since this past weekend that there was rash of break-ins and assaults in the city over the weekend. One Mason City woman said “This is the sixth break in I have heard about in 24 hrs,” while another Mason City man said he wanted more information on the “rash of robberies”.

Yet another person who lives near the reported home invasion said she “left for work (on March 15) and there was a guy with a red hoody in my yard and when I backed up and he saw me he ran for his car in the ally. I called home and warned [family].”

However, outside of the above confirmed report, Mason City police said that two unoccupied residences had electronics stolen, but no other reports of incidents were made.

  1. Many people should watch/listen to this regardless if you have a criminal back ground/ mental issues because if someone is breaking in your home to do harm you have the right to defend yourself.
No judge, No CA, or Jury will tell me that I cant protect myself/family in a situation like these people in the video! Mason City seems to have a growing crime problem here and it seems the leaders could careless. (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d…

    1. I agree with you. I’m merely pointing out the reality I fear is in place: they will charge you with homicide if you’re poor or have a background they deem unworthy. I’m afraid the only ones authorized to use force are them and citizens they consider to be “normal” tax paying Americans…despite the constitution purportedly written for all. Actually there is an article of confederation that prevents destitute people from traveling across state lines. Did you know that?

      1. You know Phil,…in my mind you make sense. Many of the things you say somewhat state my own feelings or sentiments on matters that are inconsequential anyways. My point being this. You talk too much dude. Give someone else a chance. You’re long-winded bullshit gets old man. The fact that you believe you’re more intelligent than others tires me(sometimes I wouldn’t mind punching you in the noggin). Anyhoo,..where was I? Oh yeah,…give it a rest. Try it and put on a COOL t-shirt.

        1. You’re just drunk. When I read others voicing what needs to be said, perhaps I’ll chill, but not a moment sooner. Trainer of men to be trained.

  2. I always say my door is locked for intruders safty not mine. Come in breathing out the door breathless.

      1. And having cameras inside and out of your property helps a lot also for situations like phil mentioned.

  3. I gotz a little something with a little KICK for these Invasion punks. Once your in MY HOUSE you won’t be getting back out that’s for sure! 🙂

    1. Your ability to apply lethal force depends on how well you get along with the status quo culture you find yourself in. If you have criminal history or any suspicion of “mental illness” it won’t matter how justified you were in the shooting, cops will arrest you. Only culturally conformed citizens who comply and fit in with the dominant culture of North Iowa with no aggravations against the rulers will even be considered for such claims. You’d be rolling the dice if you used your weapon.

      1. In some very minute respect, you may be correct. This is but one reason why everyone should contact their state legislators and let them know you favor the Stand your Ground and Constitutional Carry laws. Should you really have to worry about being prosecuted for defending your family or self if someone enters your home as in a home invasion?

        1. I contacted my legislatures about voting on those bills and upmeyer replied and said that the iowa gun owners changed the date so I contacted the iowa gun owners and they said the date has never been changed, that is what they are telling everybody so them not voting wouldn’t be their fault. In other words they are lying to us again.

          1. I had heard the same thing you just posted. I thought it was funny that IGA could change the date on anything since the legislature is the one to vote on these matters. Just the same, I will contact Linda Upmeyer and Amanda Regan again about this issue. Thanks!

      2. Are you saying that, after shooting someone else, that a person shouldn’t be questioned?

Also, are you saying that you don’t think the system works?

I don’t mean for either question to give the impression that I hold either a for or against position. I just find them interesting questions from which to hear perspectives.
