Mason City councilman Paul Adams to seek Cerro Gordo Supervisor seat

Paul Adams of Mason City council

MASON CITY – Mason City’s Mayor Pro Tem and At Large City Council Member Paul Adams has announced he is seeking the Democratic Party’s nomination for the Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors District 3 seat.

Adams, 38, who works for Principal Financial was first elected to his role on the City Council in Mason City in December of 2016 when he emerged from a field of 8 candidates to fill the vacant seat left by the late Alex Kuhn. He was reelected to another term in November of 2019. Just over a year into his first term, in January of 2018, he was appointed as Mayor Pro Tem and has held that appointment ever since.

“It has been a great honor to serve the citizens of Mason City as one of their At Large Council members the last 5 years”, Adams said in a press release announcing his candidacy. “The opportunity to continue representing Mason City at the County level as well as having the chance to advocate for rural communities in Cerro Gordo County led me to make the decision to run for this seat. I look forward to having conversations with the constituents of District 3 in the next 8 months of this campaign and will prove to them I am the best candidate to represent them on our Board of Supervisors.”

Throughout Adams’ tenure on the City Council, Mason City has received numerous awards from state and national organizations, opened the award- winning Mason City Multipurpose Arena and Principal Performing Arts Pavilion, addressed a critical downtown housing shortage with the opening of The River apartment complex, seen economic growth on the south and north ends of town with the Bushel Boy tomato plant and expansion of Kraft Heinz. Also, under Adams’ leadership the City increased pay for existing police officers and added incentives to recruit additional officers to help combat a nationwide shortage of law enforcement.

Adams, a native of Rockwell, currently resides in Mason City with his wife Emily and their 3 sons.

He is just another “yes” man. He does and votes how he is told. No real spine or bit of integrity.

Paul is leaving the council with no hotel built and voting to raise city services. Paul also supported tax increases on the people of Mason city. The RCRP has been a huge failure. Hopefully the city council can get a person who puts the tax payers first .

Don’t need him looking out for the county
