Mason City man facing burglary charges in Hancock county

GARNER – A Mason City man is facing burglary charges in Hancock county.

Hancock county sheriff Robert Gerdes Jr. said that on February 25, 2022 the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office filed criminal charges on 36-year-old Brandon Wayne Hufstedler of Mason City. Hufstedler was charged with burglary 3rd degree, criminal mischief 5th degree, possession of burglary tools, and 3rd degree theft. These charges are the result of an investigation into a burglary that took place at the American Legion Elmer Wilson Post #229 in Corwith in June of 2021.

Hufstedler is currently in the Cerro Gordo County jail awaiting trial for several more charges of burglary.

This investigation will continue and more charges are likely to be filed on the other parties involved.
