Jeb Bush: Immigrants ‘more fertile’

WASHINGTON, June 16 (UPI) — Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said Friday immigrants are “more fertile” and give the United States an edge over its economic rivals.

Bush, a potential Republican presidential candidate, spoke at the Road to the Majority Conference sponsored by the Faith and Freedom Coalition, The Washington Post reported.

“Immigrants create far more businesses than native-born Americans,” he said. “Immigrants are more fertile, and they love families, and they have more intact families, and they bring a younger population. Immigrants create an engine of economic prosperity.”

Bush, whose wife was born in Mexico, said China, Japan and European countries do not have a tradition of welcoming immigrants. He is a long-time advocate of immigration reform.

“If we don’t do it, we will be in decline, because the productivity of this country is dependent upon young people that are equipped to be able to work hard,” Bush said.

The Republican Party lost the 2012 presidential election partly because of Mitt Romney’s poor performance among Hispanic voters. But many speakers at the conference, like Rep. Michelle Bachmann, R-Minn., continued to take a hard line on immigration.

What’s wrong? I thought you Neocons loved the Bush family. Hell you even voted for his retarded brother and helped take us down.

the only bush i would ever vote for is not political. Its to bad that Mrs bush was so fertile herself.

I agree with Jeb’s mother…”The country has had enough Bush’s!”

Sorry thing about Jeb the best thing he had to offer ended up in the sheets.

Yeah he’s after the votes in florida! they are fertile alright as the majority of Hispanics are catholic and don’t believe in birth control; that’s why California is going broke . . . etc.

Not sure where I stand on the immigration issue except that the legal residents shouldn’t have to fit the bill for illegal immigrants through Medicaid or food stamps, etc.

If they work in the U.S. they should be paying taxes as well, not working under the table.

Politicians that think we NEED immigration are only thinking about votes. As Grassley states, unless you fence the border and protect it, immigration reform is a ticking time bomb. Believe him!! Lets go Americans, get involved. This has everything to do with your kids and grandkids futures.

I agree with you Anonymous this is the most important issue were facing. If the Senate bill on immigration reform passes the way it is it will change this country for the worst. We will become a 3rd world nation within a couple of decades. We will drive wages down, we will make and increase a dependent class because jobs will pay nothing. Only the political class wants this so they can stay in power. We cannot afford this we need to enforce our current laws. Please contact all our Senator and Congressman and them them to not support the Gang of 8 immigration bill. The what we need is to enforce the law we have. We cannot give amnesty to law breakers.
