DOUGLAS, AZ – A 33-year-old female resident of Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico was arrested Wednesday for attempting to smuggle 270 pounds of marijuana through the Port of Douglas.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers selected a Ford SUV for further inspection and, with help from a CBP narcotics detection canine, located nearly $135,000 worth of marijuana hidden under the hood and within the vehicle’s tires.
The drugs and vehicle were seized. The subject was referred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
Individuals arrested may be charged by complaint, the method by which a person is charged with criminal activity, which raises no inference of guilt. An individual is presumed innocent unless and until competent evidence is presented to a jury that establishes guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
CBP’s Office of Field Operations is the primary organization within Homeland Security tasked with an anti-terrorism mission at our nation’s ports. CBP officers screen all people, vehicles and goods entering the United States while facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel.
This dumb broad ruined her own life by breaking our laws. The cartels have been using young attractive women as mules for years. They all know exactly what they are doing. Throw her in jail and when her sentence is done throw her back across the border. Anyone who thinks these people are not criminals are stupid.
So they are going to ruin this woman’s life now by imprisoning her for life. And it won’t stop…more of these will continue rolling over the border. The Drug war is futile. End it please.
