MASON CITY – The Mason City Public Library announced this week that it is the first public library in Iowa to offer public availability of thousands of movies, television shows, music albums and audiobooks.

The materials are all available for mobile and online access through a new partnership with hoopla digital (hoopladigital.com).

On Monday, March 3, 2014, patrons can begin enjoying thousands of titles – from major Hollywood studios, record companies and publishers – available to borrow for instant streaming or temporary downloading to their smart phones, tablets and computers.

“Think Hulu Plus© or Netflix©, but free with your library card,” library staff stated in a news release.

As an added bonus, for the entire month of March, library patrons can sign up to win a Samsung 10.1 Galaxy Note Tablet. Patrons can stop at a check-out desk and ask about hoopla.

“With a Mason City Public Library card and a home wireless internet connection you will be ready to watch or listen to your favorite hoopla titles,” library staff explained.

The hoopla digital service is offered at no cost to patrons via browser, Android and iOS  and requires only a library card to access. To get registered, or find out more information, visit www.mcpl.org or www.hoopladigital.com.
