MASON CITY – Three people were arrested last week after police were called about the trio smoking marijuana.
According to police, a person reported marijuana being smoked in an apartment building at 305 5th Street NW. Police arrived and verified the weed odor. Police then spoke to the occupants and secured the location while they applied for a search warrant. Once the warrant was signed by a judge, officers served the warrant and located controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
Three people were charged with crimes.
Brandon Christopher Allen, age 20,who resides at the apartment, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (2nd offense), gathering for use of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Allen is a convicted felon who plead guilty to a number of drug crimes in Shelby county in 2012.
Kayley Jo Cooper, age 19, also resides at the apartment and was charged with gathering for use of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Justin Lee Smith, age 28, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and gathering where controlled substances are being used.
All three were released pending future court dates.

How many $billions$ do we have to spend before (they) come up with a cure. We can go the the moon and back, but it seems that someone is putting up a smoke screen for the cure.

I agree. Pot is VERY addictive and is known to kill children and cause aggressive behavior. We need this drug erased from the earth quickly so our children will be safe. I am very glad we have the DARE program and police like Sheriff Pals who fight to remove this drug from our streets.

There you go again with that false, unproven claim of curing cancer. Billions of dollars are spent in cancer research, by the most reputable clinics, hospitals, and universities around the world, but YOU already have the cure.
As I have said before, all you are doing in reality is trying to justify your illegal behavior.
You smoke pot long enough and with your newly dead brain cells it feels like you just cured cancer.

Get off it Tonya before you end up back in jail again. None of what you prattle on about has been proven but it has been proven that smoking pot can and will kill you by stopping your heart. And that includes eating it. Now, do us all a favor and go smoke another joint.
