MASON CITY – NIT has received word that the Kohl’s department store, located at 556 Indianhead Drive, was evacuated due to a possible gas leak.
The store was about to open and there were already employees in the building when a smell was detected. Alliant Energy and the Mason City Fire Department were on the scene as employees left the building.
It was said that at least one person went to the hospital, at least as a precautionary measure.
There was no word on when the store would re-open.
