MASON CITY – A man in jail since August facing felony charges of burglary and attempted murder had new charges added this week after a jailhouse scuffle.

According to jailers at the Cerro Gordo County Jail, Frederick Joseph Olson, age 41, got into an argument with another inmate which led to a short fight.

“He broke a TV remote against the wall,” a jailer told NIT. There were no apparent injuries in the scuffle no medical attention was required.

Olson was charged with assault and 5th degree criminal mischief.  A January 24th court date was set.

Olson is awaiting a February 11th, 2014 jury trial on charges of felony B attempted murder and felony B first degree burglary after an August 21, 2013 incident where a person was stabbed.
