MASON CITY – An East Park shelter house is getting a new roof this weekend.
The western-most shelter house near the sledding hill had a team of roofing experts on top of the structure Saturday afternoon, scraping off the old shingles and patching some big holes at one corner.
Seidel Roofing and Construction was sub-contracted to do the project by MJ Construction out of Mason City, owner Chad Seidel said.
The project should be complete by Monday.

This what tax dollars should be used for. Not to bail out businesses.
This is an outrageous use of our hard earned money
Give me a break. You would prefer that it be allowed to deteriorate further? This town has enough decay.
I agree with both LVS and Katie, this is what tax dollars are for. Not special interest projects like using City employees to place sculptures around town for the Chamber and then paying $25,000. If anything, the Chamber should have paid the City of Mason City $25,000 to place these things around town.
Since this is a rotating program, the City is on the hook for installing new sculptures every year for how long? We are paying City employees for this and should be paid by the chamber to do it, if is their program.
