Conference to focus on local solutions to reduce flooding, improve water quality

ANKENY — Two upcoming workshops will help local officials adapt and adopt local policies, plans and practices that will reduce flooding, protect drinking water sources and improve water quality.

The Watershed Approach to Community Planning and Growth workshop, coordinated by the DNR and Iowa Storm Water Education Program, will be held Oct. 28 in Ankeny and Nov. 18 in Marion.

Nationally recognized and respected planning, engineering and watershed professionals will share their experience on incorporating a watershed approach to the land use planning process.

Elected and appointed officials, community planners, city and consulting engineers, landscape architects and watershed project coordinators are encouraged to attend. Registration information is available at www.IowaStormwater.org.
