Quarterback Tim Tebow was released by the New England Patriots on Saturday, NFL.com reported.
Tebow was signed by the Patriots this summer but failed to make the final cut to 57 players, even after team owner Robert Kraft said publicly he was pulling for Tebow to make the team.
Tebow was famous for his comebacks as a member of the Denver Broncos in 2011 but saw little playing time in 2012 as a member of the New York Jets.
In a statement on Twitter, Tebow said “I would like to thank Mr. Kraft, Coach Belichick, Coach McDaniels and the entire Patriots organization for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such a classy organization. I pray for nothing but the best for you all. I will remain in relentless pursuit of continuing my lifelong dream of being an NFL quarterback.”
