MASON CITY – The final “Friday Night Live” event of the season was held August 16th in downtown Mason City.
The Hepperly Band played until 10 PM and a Classic Car Show was held earlier in the evening at the family-friendly event.
Vendors, including the famous Suzie Q cafe, were on hand selling food and drinks.
Friday Night Live continued to draw more people as the summer progressed. People were socializing or relaxing in lawn chairs while eating or having a drink.
“The turnout is awesome,” a local woman stated. “It’s gotten bigger every week.”
Many folks have credited Main Street Mason City Executive Director Jodee O’Brien for injecting life into the event with her enthusiasm and attention to detail.

Just another little tidbit you have council members that work or have a lot of pull with big companies. Get off your duffs and ask them for some sponsorship. Form a committee like they do in Clear Lake for the Thursday night weekly event. Thanks Im being positive not negative. “SEMPER FI”
Next year have it every 2 weeks and get a few more food vendors in, get the people that does the kettle korn, also we have a lot of local vendors and some guys that do a very fine job of BBQ. Lets get our local people involved and turn river city into a rockin river city. Spend some money on things that will bring a crowd up town.
Matt was my comments out of line about friday night live?
Hi, I see you commented on a photo… and the comment is still there, under the photo, not the story itself because you only commented on a photo. No problem at all with the comment.
This is great. Just what we need downtown to get more people down there.
