Two suspects sought by police in apparent armed robbery; one man released, not connected to the crime

MASON CITY – Police have released more information on an armed robbery that NIT reported on yesterday.

According to police, on July 23rd, 2013 at 2:10 pm, officers were dispatched to 938 9th Street SE on a report of a robbery and two suspects were running northbound and were also armed.

The suspects was described as black males, one being approximately 6 ft, husky build and the other as approximately 5’10” and thin build. It is believed the suspects were familiar with the resident. The resident was assaulted and treated at the scene for his injuries.

A vehicle had left the residence at about the same time and was stopped in the 300 block of S. Carolina. Arrested was Antonio Maurice James, age 33 years on several outstanding warrants. Mr. James is not suspected of being involved with the robbery.  James – who has been accused of kidnapping and felony child endangerment with bodily injury but allowed to plea to a misdemeanor by Judge Colleen Weiland – has already been released from jail.

  1. If Judge Weiland is up for re-election to the court- get rid of her… Geez, she is directly responsible for half of the criminals running around this City. I know that if I was one, I would start asking for her court room…. You go to court, she asks if u are guilty , you say kinda and she says ok that sounds good– see ya later!!!
