MASON CITY – Mason City police responded Tuesday to an allegedly intoxicated man making threats at the Mercy Hospital campus.
At about 6:00 PM, police responded to a call saying that a man was threatening to shot his gun if he wasn’t left alone. According to police, Bruce Allen Simpson, 55, was transported to the ER in an ambulance. “He apparently got upset and left the ER,” police said. “He was reported to be lying on the ground at 1st Street SW and South Taylor, making threats involving a gun.”
Simpson was questioned by police and arrested for aggravated public intoxication, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Simpson plead guilty to harassment last year. In 2013, Simpson was convicted of his 3rd or subsequent public intoxication charge. He owes Iowa courts $272.80 in that case. Simpson also has at least two operating while intoxicated charges in which he owes thousands of dollars to Iowa courts.

SUBJECT IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

With the drugs, the blacks, and no real industry to speak of, what chance does Mason City have? The city does nothing to clean up the town, the neighborhoods, or the trash rental properties that are around. Robin Anderson got us statues, which boosted her “I live in a big city, and I am a real mover and shaker in this community” ego, but the town is still an eyesore and a degenerating entity. Why didn’t the city use the apartment mall money for getting businesses in here? No leadership.
Yes there are there some interesting people that run around in this town. We can help change the direction. Support local businesses, support students by attending a performance- do something positive for your community.
Now now fella’s. I know Steve and I need some work too. Steve can’t help himself. He is so envious of Max it hurt’s me when he can only make fun of people. I tried to tell Steve everything comes back to bite but he just won’t listen to his mother. I apologize for my idiot son.
NIT didn’t make this loser to do any of this, they are just covering it because they are more mobile than the Old School News Corporations in Masocn City. Face it, you wouldn’t see Bob Fissure or The Skip there to cover it.
geez max weaver put on a few pounds
No kidding Steve??? I could have sworn it looked EXACTLY like your MOM….
Wow, this guy is only 55?
When I seen the headline some nut threating people with a gun I said it must of been our local Nazi crack head Toddy Boy Blodgett flew off the handle at a nurse that was colored or queer, that is what hatefull haters do.
Well obviously nothing has changed so you can’t blame the good guys you ousted from our local government so that’s out. You wanted to so bad.
Matt isn’t hiding anything. He calls it as it happens. Like he can control happenings.
Matt we know you just have to laugh.
only bad? Please fill us in on the good.
There are no real jobs
there are over 300 homes for sale in this town
The young folks leave ASAP and never to return
populaion is going steadily backwords
Taxes go up & up
government employees are getting more & more, why the private sector (who pays their wages) gets less and less.
please tell me what I am missing? What part of what I have said above is wrong?
What is the true picture that I cant seem to see?
Exactly, this all starts in the White House and trickles down. Get used to it!!
Matt obviously holds a personal grudge against anything Pro Mason City. It seems so petty at times. I am guessing there is history motivating his hatred, but I doubt he wants to fess up.
@Ann Tornquist-are you nuts. Matt didn’t make this guy get drunk and threaten people with a gun. It is people like you with their head up their posterior that are the real problems with this city. You are obviously one of the establishment supporters. This city is going to hell and if you don’t believe that drive down North Federal after dark.
Why is it everybody has such bad things to say about Mason City?? My guess is because NIT only allows you to read the bad stories in full, nobody gets a chance to rely on the good. The news is terrible these days because the focus on the negative instead of the positive. If only the press would change their focus maybe the people will as well!
Just another damn drunk. Between the drunks and the druggers this town is going to HELL. Just how many chances do these people get before society decides enough is enough?
its so sad to live in this town, nothing but trash
