“We contacted them to confirm our game was scheduled for tomorrow [Friday] night and they said they needed to reschedule,” Drew Brandewie, spokesman for Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, told NBC News.
The game was supposed to be the first by Cornyn’s office team, The RBIs of Texas, against the Cheetahs, the IRS squad.
Cornyn has been sharply critical of the federal tax agency for targeting conservative, Tea Party and Patriot groups for extra scrutiny on their applications for tax-exempt status and posted the IRS softball game default on Facebook and Twitter.
NBC said the softball game has not been rescheduled.
