MASON CITY – Mason City police have confirmed that on Tuesday evening a purse with a gun inside was stolen from a person visiting East Park
According to police, on Tuesday night a person parked their vehicle in East Park near the bandshell. “The victim and her relatives walked away from the vehicle. The victim left her purse inside the vehicle. The purse and a backpack were reported stolen from the vehicle a short time later. There was no forced entry to the vehicle so we are assuming the vehicle was unlocked. A handgun was inside the purse besides cash, credit cards, etc.”
An NIT reader who was nearby when the incident was unfolding said Tuesday night that “Lady had a permit to conceal and she left it in her car in her purse and the window open. Police where down there by the bandshell parking lot for quite some time.”
Police are urging anyone with information to contact the MCPD.
Is she facing any charges for leaving her firearm unattended?

Just a little friendly advice, from reading all your blogs, I get the impression that you (really) like to argue. So you should probably stay home, that way you will never get shot in the head for pissing someone off. There are some people that are carrying guns illegally, if you should come across to them like you come across on this site, you could very well get shot in the head, and no one on here wants that to happen, unless of course it’s in self defense.

Laws need to be up held and stop slapping criminals hands. Many things kill people. Only people kill people. Last I knew guns cant breathe. In the 1880s there were less crimes because of not knowing if someone carries a gun. Guns should not be inside a regular purse. There are purses made for carry. With a cable inside strap so it cant be cut off. I have carried for many years. Only a fool would ban guns. It would put it so far behind with jobs that we wouldnt survive. If you were being raped and didnt have a gun maybe you would think twice.
One thing you have to remember, stealing a purse is a crime, not sure if it is a felony or not but with a gun in the purse, even if the criminal knew it or not, makes it a federal crime and a felony. Of course in this country a felony means probation.
Did everyone forget that the purse was stolen not handed out, not thrown in the trash, not labeled take me, it was stolen. It is a crime to steal is it not? Find the thief and put him away not slap the hand and sure the hell don’t make him the victim of temptation.

What happens if I argue with someone and they pull a gun because they feel threatened? Can I legally shoot them in the head first for pointing the gun?
Are you fishing for something seriously? I’ve been carrying for years and even had to pull my weapon out a couple times but I have never fired it at anybody. It sounds like you are trying to make law abiding gun carrying people out to be maniacs.

According to the law if I feel that my life is in immediate danger I can defend myself with lethal force. If you and I were arguing knowing the law I would NOT pull my weapon out first but I would use it last.
So the answer is YES. You pull a gun on anybody and YOU can be legally shot. And you have by your own admission.

This was VERY irresponsible. Everyone knows how pro-gun I am on here by my posts, but I will say this…if you don’t have better control of your weapon than this, you shouldn’t be allowed to carry one or OWN one in my opinion.

One thing I know is guns and gun safety. I was a shooting instructor in the military for 6 years and on the army pistol/rifle team for 4 years. If someone is pro gun and pro 2nd amendment they are alright in my book but if they do not practice gun safety they lose a lot of points with me.

Shame on her. When you are carrying you have to be responsiblity to keep the weapon where it is safe at all times. Why would you leave a gun where anyone could take it. There are people in this city that will steal anything at any time.
