DES MOINES, Iowa, April 22 (UPI) — An Iowa man was arrested in Des Moines after allegedly being involved in a shootout and standoff with police, officials said.

Michael Wayne Reed, 53, was taken into custody just after midnight on Monday following the incident, The Des Moines Register reported.

Police said Reed fired several rounds at police officers who showed up at his house Saturday after receiving a report of a property dispute. Police returned fire.

No one was injured in the shootout; however, Reed refused to leave his house for 30 hours.

On Sunday, SWAT team members devised a plan to lure Reed out of the house using a negotiator, said Sgt. Jason Halifax, a Des Moines police spokesman.

The negotiator, who had been speaking with Reed via cellphone intermittently during the standoff, coaxed Reed onto his front porch where SWAT members shot him with a stun gun and arrested him, Halifax said.

Reed was booked into the Polk County Jail on weapons charges, officials said.
