Accused Des Moines robber taunts police via Facebook; promises more crime

DES MOINES – A wanted Iowa man who allegedly tried to steal a cart full of electronics from a Des Moines Sears store and then assaulted an employee who tried to stop him, took to the Des Moines police department’s Facebook page and taunted them about how he is innocent,  how they have not been able to catch him, and how more crime may be on the way.

Des Moines Police reported that at approximately 8:15 PM on April 26th, a black male suspect entered the Sears store in Southridge Mall asking for $850.00 worth of electronics. He was given the items which were placed in a shopping basket inside a shopping cart. The suspect walked around the store for a short time after taking control of these items. Soon after, the man ran out the store without paying for the items. He attempted to get into a car he had left running nearby. A Sears employee followed the suspect and was assaulted as he tried to prevent the loss of the items. The suspect then fled on foot leaving the car which had previously been reported stolen.

Hours later, Des Moines police declared that the suspect in the investigation was identified as 31-year-old Andrew Allen Bolden.

Des Moines Police Detectives received anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers in addition to another tip on their Facebook page. With this information warrants were requested, and received, for Bolden, charging him with 2nd Degree Robbery (for his actions at Sears) and 2nd Degree Theft for having control of the stolen car.

Bolden’s location at this time is unknown, but he is believed to be in Des Moines.

As police seek Bolden, they posted to their Facebook page about the alleged crime – and that drew Bolden to that post, where he tried to explain the incident.

“First of all…i didnt rob anything. i shoplifted and ran away n security was embarassed he couldnt stop me so he made up a lie about me beating him up. [sic]” Bolden proclaimed. “notice how the assault was coincidently not caught on camera but everything else was as sears and the news brags about the quality of the video. the parking lot has survellince too. that man was three times my size. and i notic they did not show me talking to him asking the time either i knew exactly who he was as he play talked to his wife…he wasnt wearing a ring. on my way to mabey ohio, come get me or drop the felonius charges…put this on the news! [sic]”

Police promptly responded, saying “The charges aren’t going away. If you would like to come in and speak to us about what you did, we would welcome that.”

Soon after, Bolden taunted police, saying “bet u would….think id rather rack up more then…have fun n let the games begin. just remember i asked yall for help first. guess id compare u to dr. frankenstien if ya know what i mean [sic].

“now i strive to be public enemy #1….yup, i got nothin to lose but the world to gain…how dangerous am i? by the way the police forgot to warn the public that im a martial arts expert and my iq is quite on the high end, yall ready!!!??? [sic]”
