Charles “Chuck” Kenyon Marquardt, 71, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away February 11, 2026, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapels, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday, February 16, 2026, at the funeral home.
Chuck was born July 25, 1954, in Charles City, Iowa the son of Wyman and Mary (Kenyon) Marquardt. He graduated from Osage High School with the class of 1972 and later earned his Associate’s in Business from NIACC. He worked for Minnesota Rubber for around 18 years in production and as a forklift operator. In 2007 he began working for MercyOne in Mason City as a part of their custodial staff and he retired in 2016. He met the love of his life, Judy Zeigler and they were wed April 12, 1975, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Mason City. Together they had three wonderful sons.
Chuck had a deep and unshakable love for his family. He was always there for his sons in their lives. From soccer games to cub scouts to pinewood derbies, he wanted to be there. The man was loyal and stubborn to a fault, sacrificing whatever he had to for his wife and sons. Chuck was passionate about many things. Collecting soda bottles from small town distributors, puzzles, reading westerns, even pies shared over many family birthdays. But his passion for gardening and plants stands out the strongest. Every year people looked forward to his plant sales, eager to take home one of his hostas, coneflowers or lilies. His plants won many county fair competitions, and he absolutely loved trips to local arboretums and greenhouses where he’d fill up the back of the van with all kinds of new plants.
Those left to honor his memory are his beloved wife of 50 years, Judy; sons, Fredrick (Terra) Marquardt of Prairie City, Iowa, Corey (Rebecca) Marquardt of Des Moines, Iowa, and Drew (Megan) Marquardt of Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren, Grace “Mika” Marquardt, Casen McCarl, Rosemary Marquardt, and Crosby Marquardt; sister, Marcia Schnell of Fort Dodge, Iowa; brother, Brian (Madeline) Marquardt of Durango, Colorado; sister-in-law, Wanda (Steve) Fistler of Albert Lea, Minnesota; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Wyman and Mary; brother, Curtis Marquardt; and inlaws, Elery and Fannie (Olthoff) Zeigler.
