MASON CITY – For a 3rd time in the past 6 days Michael Dean Anderson, age 64, has woke up to breakfast in the Cerro Gordo County Jail.
Anderson’s problems with the bottle and local law enforcement started at 2am Monday when a Mason City Police Officer pulled him over for an equipment violation at the corner of Elm Drive & 9th Street NE. After failed field sobriety testing Anderson was arrested and transported to Cerro Gordo County Jail.
Anderson was charged with a Class D felony count of 321J.2(2)(c) OWI Third or Subsequent Offense. Hours after his arrest Magistrate Patrick B. Byrne dropped a $5,000 bail bond requirement and released Anderson on his own recognizance. Michael Anderson was ordered to complete a substance abuse evaluation and appear at a preliminary hearing on May 3rd at 8:30am.
Just before 2am on Friday Mason City Police Officers responded to a suspicion report near the corner of North Federal Avenue & 10th Street NW. This time Michael Anderson and Dylan Fix, age 24, were arrested for a simple misdemeanor count of 123.46 Public Intoxication. Anderson and Fix were transported to Cerro Gordo County Jail and released later Friday after sobering up.
Just after 1:30am on Sunday a Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a liquor violation report near the corner of North Federal Avenue & 12th Street NW. Michael Anderson was again arrested for a simple misdemeanor count of 123.46 Public Intoxication.
Michael Anderson’s choices made while under the influence of alcohol are well documented in Iowa court records. He has pleaded guilty to public intoxication in Mason City four times in the past year alone stemming from arrests on June 9th, June 20th, June 21st, and July 8th of 2012.
SUBJECT IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

Must be apart of of many non-working class in this area all have to do is drink and have no responsibility what a waste of dollars and time!!!

He’s another winner. I try not to say to much about drinking as I sure drank my share back in the day. But I never got arrested for it and I never went to jail. To get busted three times in one week is really pretty dumb. They will probably be sending him up as a habital offender. With his record he sure is a candidate.
