RURAL BUTLER COUNTY – A Hampton man died in a rural Butler county crash Wednesday night, south of Clarksville.
According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol the crash occurred after 10 PM on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, south of Clarksville at Highway 3 AND Ridge Avenue. A 2005 Toyota Sienna Van driven by 22-year-old Ariel Murillo of Hampton was northbound on Ridge Avenue and failed to yield for a stop sign as a 2010 Nissan Maxima was northbound on Highway 3. The Maxima struck the Sienna Van on the passenger side. Both vehicles went in the north ditch.
As a result of the collusion, 26-year-old Juan Murillo of Hampton died. The patrol’s report says Murillo and three others hurt in the crash were not wearing seat belts.
Agencies assisting the Iowa State Patrol included the Butler County Sheriff Department, Clarksville police and First Responders, Waverly EMS and Shellrock Fire & EMS.
