Forest City, Iowa – Although it may be cold outside, Waldorf College offers free concerts and performances throughout the month of January that will make the trek outdoors worthwhile.

The public is invited to join Ted Bieth, a teacher at Northwood Kensett Community Schools and North Iowa Area Community College, for the opening of his exhibit at the Waldorf Art Gallery. An Artist Reception will be held on January 10, from 5 to 7 p.m., with Bieth discussing his creative process and answering audience questions at 6:30 p.m. Featuring primarily pencil drawings, the exhibition will be displayed through February 8.

Waldorf’s Zeta Lambda chapter of the Mu Phi Epsilon Professional Music Fraternity will hold a concert on January 11 at 7:30 p.m. at Waldorf’s Recital Hall.

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Michael Fosberg will present his critically acclaimed one-man play Incognito. The play follows Fosberg as he reaches out to a father he has never known and discovers a family secretthat forces him to examine his racial identity. The performance will be at Waldorf’s Atrium on January 21 at 1:00 p.m.

At 7:30 p.m. on January 21, Candice Steenhard will present her senior trumpet recital at Waldorf’s Recital Hall.

Dr. Tim Schmidt, music professor emeritus at Waldorf College, will present a piano concert at 7:30p.m. on January 29. The concert will be held at Waldorf’s Recital Hall. A free-will offering will be taken to benefit the Choroideremia Research Foundation.
