Osage police investigate accident involving train and semi-truck

OSAGE – Police in Osage say charges are pending after a semi-truck was struck by a train, causing a corn spill.

According to Osage police, on October 28, 2014 at approximately 2:56 PM, the Osage Police Department responded to an accident between a Canadian National train and a semi-truck and grain trailer on Mechanic Street, near the Osage Co-Op Elevator. The Canadian National train was traveling north bound and the semi-truck was traveling west bound with a full trailer of corn. Police did not describe the accident, but two photos posted by police show the trailer is damaged and tipped over, very close to a train.

There were no injuries involved in the accident. The engineer of the train was Thomas Howland, age 60 of Riceville, Iowa and the driver of the semi was Kolby Berg, age 23 of Osage.

The incident is still under investigation at this time and charges pending.
