Car that was on fire

by Jody Spear and Kelly Meyer –

MASON CITY – On December 8th at around 9:00 am, authorities responded to a call of a car on fire at the Charlie Brown Preschool and Child Care building, located at 700 North Washington.
Upon arrival, a Mason City Police officer and the owners of the car, Jeff and Ashley Ackman, were checking out the damage.
“The car was off,” said Ashley.  “A man came in the building and said that a car was on fire, went back out and put the fire out with a fire extinguisher.”
The Good Samaritan, only known as Brian, put the fire out, but didn’t want any recognition.  After being thanked by Ashley, he said, “anytime” and took off.
“I’m so thankful the kids were inside.  We were bringing them to Tumbling Class,” said Ashley.   “My hero, Brian.”
