Osage bank robbery suspect to appear in court Monday morning

WAVERLY – An Osage man accused of robbing a bank with the help of another Iowa man will appear in court Monday morning for an arraignment.

William Clayton, 19, is due in Bremer County District Court at 9:30 AM.

Clayton and a New Hampton man, Jeremiah Mumford, 24, are accused of robbing the Maynard Savings Bank on Oct. 30.  Court records show Mumford entered a plea of not guilty on November 14th.

As Mumford and Clayton tried to flee the crime scene, the men allegedly shot and injured Sumner Police Chief Dennis Cain and Iowa State Patrol Trooper Mark Domino.

Mumford was charged with six counts of Attempted Murder (Class B Felony) and five counts of Terrorism (Class B Felony). Clayton was  charged with six counts of Aiding and Abetting (Class B Felony) and five counts of Terrorism (Class B Felony).

SUBJECTS ARE INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY
