A man who conspired to manufacture methamphetamine was sentenced July 2, 2012, to 5 years in federal prison.
William Bass, Jr., 30, from Fort Dodge, Iowa, received the prison term after a February 2, 2012, guilty plea to conspiring to manufacture methamphetamine.
At the plea hearing, Bass, Jr. admitted his involvement in a conspiracy that manufactured at least 50 grams of actual (pure) methamphetamine from about 2008 through September 2011 in the Fort Dodge, Iowa, area. According to pseudoephedrine logs, Bass, Jr. obtained at least 169.68 grams of pseudoephedrine for the manufacture of methamphetamine.
Bass, Jr. was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett. Bass, Jr. was sentenced to 60 months’ imprisonment. A special assessment of $100 was imposed. He must also serve a 5-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system. Bass, Jr. is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and was investigated by the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations, Webster County Sheriff’s Office, and Fort Dodge Police Department.
