A woman who conspired to manufacture methamphetamine was sentenced July 2, 2012, to more than 6 years in federal prison.
Stephanie Svoboda, 37, from Fort Dodge, Iowa, received the prison term after a February 17, 2012, guilty plea to conspiring to manufacture methamphetamine.
At her plea hearing, Svoboda admitted her involvement in a conspiracy that manufactured at least 50 grams of actual (pure) methamphetamine from about 2008 through September 2011 in the Fort Dodge, Iowa, area. According to pseudoephedrine logs, Svoboda obtained at least 193.44 grams of pseudoephedrine for the manufacture of methamphetamine.
Svoboda was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett. Svoboda was sentenced to 80 months’ imprisonment. A special assessment of $100 was imposed. She must also serve a 5-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system. Svoboda is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until she can be transported to a federal prison.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and was investigated by the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations, Webster County Sheriff’s Office, and Fort Dodge Police Department.
