Central Springs’ Nodtvedt signs with NIACC Volleyball

MASON CITY, Iowa – NIACC volleyball continues to add to its roster for next season by signing Central Springs’ Lexy Nodtvedt as the seventh member of its 2012 recruiting class.

Nodtvedt, a middle hitter for the Panthers, was a 2nd Team All-Corn Bowl Conference selection last season.  She had a season high 17 kills against Saint Ansgar on October 4.

“I’ve enjoyed playing volleyball ever since I was a little girl and I’ve always dreamed to succeed in the sport,” Nodtvedt said.  “I’m so glad I got the opportunity to grow into a better player, and be part of the NIACC volleyball family.”

NIACC coach Chris Brandt, who heavily recruits local North Iowa talent, expects Nodtvedt to fit in with NIACC’s new faces that will be playing next fall.

“We couldn’t be happier that Lexy has decided to join our program next season,” Brandt said.  “Lexy is passionate about wanting to play at that next level and along with her work ethic, strength, and motivation, we believe she will make an excellent student-athlete at NIACC.”

Nodtvedt’s been one of Central Springs key players the last couple of years, according to head coach Nicole McDonough.  She believes the skills Nodtvedt has will carry over to NIACC and be effective at the next level.

“She has tremendous athleticism and instinct in the game of volleyball that will aid in her success at the next level,” McDonough said.  “She is an extremely strong blocker, hitter, and jump server that is sure to only get stronger with the higher competition in college.”

NIACC was 13-29 in the 2011 season.
