MASON CITY – Mason City Police were dispatched to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa at 5:43 a.m. Monday morning to take a report of a sexual assault.
As a result of the report and following investigation by law enforcement, 39-year-old Jose Aaron Martinez-Casillas of 919 Federal Avenue North apartment B in Mason City was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail at 2:47 p.m. on one Class C felony count of 3rd degree sexual abuse. A class C felony is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. During the investigation, information was obtained that Martinez-Casillas had assaulted a female subject in Mason City.
Martinez-Casillas is currently being held on a $10,000 cash or surety bond.
The Mason City Police Department said Tuesday that they are continuing to investigate the incident and encourages anyone with information related to this case to contact them at 641-421-3636.
