Cerro Gordo County was under a severe thunderstorm warning Wednesday afternoon.
The announcement was a a hopeful sign. The clouds swarmed in, the thunder started to rumble and the lightning flashed, but where was the rain? For a short time, the rain fell, but only enough to make the brown grass soft.
The hopeful sign quickly turned to disappointment when the rain stopped with no signs of starting again. If you miss the sounds of an Iowa thunderstorm, even a small one, watch the video for a short remembrance of what they sound like.
On the brighter side, the temperatures dropped, and it was bearable to go enjoy the outdoors for a few hours.
