Teen shot dead in Fort Dodge and another Iowa teen is wanted for the murder

FORT DODGE - Police raced to the scene in Fort Dodge to discover a teen shot dead, laying in the road, and another Iowa teen is now wanted for first-degree murder.

FORT DODGE – Police raced to the scene in Fort Dodge to discover a teen shot dead, laying in the road, and another Iowa teen is now wanted for first-degree murder.

On Tuesday, July 4th, 2023, at approximately 9:44 PM, the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call of someone being shot in the area of S 15th St and 4th Ave S in Fort Dodge. Officers and the Fort Dodge Fire Department responded to the scene.

When officers arrived in the area, they located and unresponsive juvenile male with multiple gunshot wounds in the roadway. Officers began life saving efforts until medics arrived, but the juvenile male was ultimately pronounced deceased. Investigators were called in and the scene was processed, and witnesses were located. The victim has been identified as a 15‐year‐old male. The victim’s name is not going to be released at this time until we are certain all next of kin have been properly notified.

Investigators are continuing to follow up on this incident. Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to contact the Fort Dodge Police. Information may also be submitted anonymously via Crime Stoppers.

The Fort Dodge Police Department was assisted by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the Webster County Attorney’s Office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations, the Iowa State Patrol, The Webster County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Fort Dodge Fire Department.

Following this incident, the Fort Dodge Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division along with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Webster County Attorney’s Office have continued to track down leads and gather information.

As a result of the investigation thus far, an arrest warrant has been issued for Jamarrion James Davis (AKA J.J.) of Ankeny for first-degree murder (Class A Felony).

Davis is described as being 18 years of age, 5’8” tall, and weighing 115 pounds. Davis should be considered armed and dangerous. If anyone knows the whereabouts of this suspect, they are encouraged to contact law enforcement immediately.

As part of this investigation, Webster County Crime Stoppers is offering a $500.00 reward to anyone with information which leads to the arrest of this offender.
