MASON CITY – Mason City Police Officers and Firefighters have received official notice from the Sullivan Brothers Award of Valor Program that they are to be honored during a special ceremony with Governor Terry Branstad.
Mason City Police Officers Charlie Connor, Tiffany Creekmur, Ed Walthall and Lane Seifken, along with Mason City Firefighters Aaron Beemer, Peter Bieber and Lt. David Orr will be honored with the presentation of the Sullivan Brothers Award of Valor for their life saving actions that took place in October 2010.
The Sullivan Brothers Award of Valor is awarded to peace officers and firefighters who, while serving in an official capacity, distinguished themselves by the performance of a heroic act in excess of normal demands or police or fire service where the person was fully aware of the threat to his/her personal safety.
The presentation will take place in the East Rotunda of the State Capitol on November 7, 2011, starting at 11:30 a.m.
