WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Paris Accord is a bad deal for America, President Donald Trump said Thursday as he announced the United States will pull out of the landmark environmental protection deal.
“The United States will withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord but begin negotiations to re-enter either the Paris Accord, or an entirely new transaction, on terms that are fair to the United States, its businesses, its workers, its people, its taxpayers,” the White House said in a statement as President Trump conducted press conference Thursday at the Rose Garden.
President Trump said the world will no longer be “laughing at” America now that the process to begin pulling out of the deal is set in motion. It will take at least 3 to 4 years to withdraw fully, and Trump left the door open for re-negotiations.
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Kentucky Republicn and major supporter of the coal industry, released the following statement regarding President Trump’s decision today to withdraw from the Paris climate deal:
“I applaud President Trump and his administration for dealing yet another significant blow to the Obama Administration’s assault on domestic energy production and jobs. President Obama made commitments in this deal based off a costly power plan that we knew at the time was on shaky legal ground. By withdrawing from this unattainable mandate, President Trump has reiterated his commitment to protecting middle class families across the country and workers throughout coal country from higher energy prices and potential job loss.
“Today’s move builds on action Congress took to rebuff then-President Obama’s regulatory rampage, which put American jobs at risk. When the previous administration signed America up for this unattainable mandate, we made it clear we would fight this unilateral action any way we could, and this day could not have happened soon enough. President Trump has once again put families and jobs ahead of left-wing ideology and should be commended for his action.”
He encouraged states to not immediately comply with the costly regulation and wait for additional legal and congressional action to take place.
Former President Obama – who helped get the U.S. into the deal last year – panned the move, and predicted cities and states would try to pick up the slack left by the federal government’s move.

Former Vice Presdient Al Gore, a strong climate-change believer, said in a statement “Removing the United States from the Paris Agreement is a reckless and indefensible action. It undermines America’s standing in the world and threatens to damage humanity’s ability to solve the climate crisis in time. But make no mistake: if President Trump won’t lead, the American people will.
“Civic leaders, mayors, governors, CEOs, investors and the majority of the business community will take up this challenge. We are in the middle of a clean energy revolution that no single person or group can stop. President Trump’s decision is profoundly in conflict with what the majority of Americans want from our president; but no matter what he does, we will ensure that our inevitable transition to a clean energy economy continues.”

As I previously posted, I have been keeping weather records since I was 8 years old. It was so hot we had to sleep in the yard and it was dust bowl in North Iowa. Nothing like it is today.
From my perspective the Climate has SHIFTED. We had a warm winter and colder spring. Here is a silly stat: Because I hated the cold winter here in North Iowa I couldn’t wait for February 20th each year as that was the date we NEVER had another below zero day. If we did was a fluke. Now it is common.

With that said, I have followed North Iowa weather since I was 8 years old as a hobby and can testify we do NOT have a warming problem here. On the other hand I can say we have CLIMATE SHIFTING. I can only speculate why as I don’t have studies to prove or disprove the why.
I do know this that mankind has built one hell of a concrete jungle and this stores heat energy and releases it at different rates than mother earth does. Just food for thought.

let’s see, Tillotson was against pulling out of the climate deal, Kushner was against it, Ivanka was against it, Gary Cohn the President’s National Economic Council director was against it, many business leaders were against it including Elon Musk and Disney’s CEO who both resigned from Trump’s advisory panels because of the decision. Most countries who we consider allies also announced their disappointment. The only 2 other countries not in this deal are Syria and Nicaragua, a couple of really cool allies for us.
