Three Iowa teens arrested for attempted murder in Cedar Rapids shooting

CEDAR RAPIDS – Three Iowa teens have been arrested and remain behind bars at this time for attempted murder in Cedar Rapids shooting that happened in March.

Police officers received a report of gunshots fired in the area of 16th Street and 1st Avenue East at 6:50 p.m. on March 11th. Officers were advised that subjects had taken off running from the Coin Kleen Laundromat at 220 16th Street NE and that there was a victim inside the laundromat.

Based on the subsequent investigation, the following individuals have been charged:

Malachi Free Handley, age 16, Cedar Rapids, was charged with Attempted Murder, Willful Injury-Causing Serious Injury, and Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, for firing multiple rounds from a handgun at a 14-year old male victim, striking and seriously injuring him twice, and shooting into the Coin Kleen Laundromat at 220 16th Street NE.

Cedar Rapids

Glenn Nichols, age 15, of Cedar Rapids, was charged with Attempted Murder, Willful Injury-Causing Serious Injury, and Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon.

Cody Michael Adkins, age 15, of Cedar Rapids, was charged with Attempted Murder, Willful Injury-Causing Serious Injury, and Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon.

All three juveniles are currently in custody.
