MASON CITY – Police were called to a local retail store after a North Iowa woman was spotted attempting to steal.
Employees at the Kohls department store, 556 Indianhead Drive in Mason City, called police on March 25 at about 2:22 PM to alert them that there was a shoplifter in the store. Police arrived, and after an investigation, 24-year-old Ashley Marie Bartels of Riceville was arrested.
Bartels was taken to the county jail on a charge of fifth degree theft. She was booked and later released, pending a court date.
Bartels was convicted of fifth degree theft in Mitchell county in 2013. She attempted to steal $140.00 from a Casey’s store there. She was ordered to pay restitution and a fine.
Was she trying to steal eye shadow?
Why do these thieves always try to steal from Kohls? Why steal at all? But every thief who attempts to steal from Kohls gets caught.
Yes Kohls seems to be a daily target. I wonder how many get away with it and how many they catch? I know they have one security lady there who is pretty vigilant and is always watching on the cameras. Seems to me, most of the stuff they sell there is substandard, made-in-China crap. Is any of it worth stealing? The pearly granite floors I guess make the junk on the shelves seem more worthy than it really is.
@Matt-I have a relative that works there and she tells me they catch them almost every day.
