MASON CITY – Jamaal Leslie, 32, charged with first degree murder (707.2) for shooting Brandon Crawford to death last August 9th, was found guilty today in a Cerro Gordo County courtroom by a jury.

Leslie faces life in prison with no parole.
Leslie has a long rap sheet in Cerro Gordo County, including pleading guilty to carrying weapons in 2007, habitually driving while barred, possession of a controlled substance in 2008, other controlled substances violations, theft 5th degree (dismissed), interference with official acts (dismissed), and now murder.

Actually, I think klinkyh was just poking fun at a typo in the story. When it was published the photo caption originally read “Mason City police and other law enforcement caught up with Jamaal Crawford after he shot and killed a man on Mason City’s north side on August 9th, 2011.”
You’re right, for about 10 minutes I had the name wrong int he story. The change was made and we moved on! Appreciate the keen eye from the readers, I’m not perfect.
