Kim Reynolds issues disaster proclamation for four Iowa counties impacted by recent severe weather
DES MOINES – Today, Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation for four counties in response to severe weather that occurred on May 6. The governor’s proclamation activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and Disaster Case Advocacy Program for the following counties: Clarke, Marion, O’Brien, and Pottawattamie.
Mason City home fire displaces residents, sends pet to vet
MASON CITY – The Mason City fire department says a home fire Tuesday evening caused $60,000 in damages, displaces residents and sent a pet to a vet for urgent care.
Suspect arrested for attempted murder after Northern Iowa shooting
MONTGOMERY, IOWA – An emergency call in this tiny Northern Iowa town led police to discover a shooting victim and hunt down a suspect, who now faces an attempted murder charge.

Iowa State women’s basketball adds quartet of transfers
AMES – Iowa State women’s basketball head coach Bill Fennelly announced the signing of four transfers to the 2024-25 Cyclones roster. Lily Hansford (Oregon State), Kenzie Hare (Marquette), Sydney Harris (TCU) and Lilly Taulelei (Massachusetts) will join Iowa State later this summer.
Nebraska man sent to prison for dealing meth in Iowa
SIOUX CITY – A Nebraska man caught with meth, scales, and drug paraphernalia in Iowa was sent to prison for 15 years.

Company that hired children to clean dangerous Iowa slaughterhouse ordered to pay $650K
In Iowa, federal investigators witnessed children concealing their faces and carrying glittered school backpacks before starting their overnight shift and learned children were ordered to use corrosive cleaners to clean dangerous kill floor equipment, including head splitters, jaw pullers, bandsaws and neck clippers.
