MASON CITY – Where else, but Wal-Mart?
Police were called to the Mason City Wal-Mart, 4151 4th Street SW, Monday afternoon to investigate a report of a man who had slapped a child in the face.
Information obtained by NIT described the incident as a female caller to police said a child of about 3-years of age was observed being slapped by a man. The child – said to be female – was then taken in a bathroom where she was heard crying.
However, Mason City police told NIT Tuesday that they responded to the scene and spoke to the reporting party, the caregiver (presumably the male party, accused of slapping the child) and the child. Police said that no injuries were visible and no charges were filed.
However, a police report stated that the incident would be forwarded to the Department of Human Services (DHS).

MASON CITY – Where else, but Wal-Mart?
I occasionally shop at Wal-mart, and I have never seen a sign that encouraged adults to slap children.
As for the garbage picture, which is from a previous article, if it wasn’t for the human pigs in this town Wal-Mart wouldn’t have this problem. Unfortunately this area isn’t in the cultural crescent, if it was, city employees would be required to pick up the trash. Case in point, the cigarette butts in front of Larados and the Quarry.
“Where else but Wal-Mart?”
Did you know Wal-Mart is at or near the top for calls for service from the MCPD? There’s a little bit of everything out there. Thefts, assaults, fights, vandalism, prescription fraud, you name it. It is drama central, and we all pay for it as they suck up the time and expense of our public servants. The place should really be held to the nuisance code in my opinion.
The busiest place in town has the most calls?
WOW!

You beat me to that comment Hillari. I agree
Oh no, please commence with your negative comment. We can proceed with the discussion. Of course, it’s quite predictable that you would omit your true identity so you are spared any scrutiny. But by all means, lay it on me.
With all the taxes they pay, and the wages for all of their around this area employees, I would think that a better picture would be produced for them. I get the point, its only Walmart but we are beholdin to them. What business at one time or another didn’t have a mess outside their doors?? I think we need a new photographer here.
@Annie-You are right about part of your statement, but it is pretty much a mess out there at all times compared to anywhere else in town.
I can respect your viewpoint. However, although I never shop at Wal-Mart anymore, I do occasionally drive by, and the viewpoint in this picture is what I would call a kind and generous depiction of what I see when I look south towards the store. I would also clarify, that I am not beholden to Wal-Mart. Never owed them a thing, never will.
I love to shop at Wal-Mart, they have everything. One stop shopping. There are people who will dump their trash and don’t care if it hits the receptacle or not. Customers deciding they don’t want something and just stick it in any aisle. They must surely get disgusted, I do. But I’m glad they are there.
They have everything because china makes everything. Shop locally.
Buy only American produced products in Wal-Mart. Period!!!
You need to have your eyes checked and buying locally doesn’t just mean “not off the internet”. You may want to read up on walmart. Maybe take in a documentary or two on the retail giant that makes local retailers go out of business.
smart business practices should not stop anyone from doing business with Walmart. If you knew the whole truth about many large companies you would have to eat your words. Also. you need to check into all the products you buy or use and see If it has 100% American parts. Check how many parts from other countries your chevrolet uses. There is no way in hell ANYONE can actually buy 100% american. Unless you buy from a local farmers market or the local whore house.
